The countdown is over, and Dakar 2025 is about to kick off! This year’s race promises thrilling performances from a strong lineup of American competitors across categories. From experienced bikers to dedicated racers in the Classic category, the U.S. presence is ready to leave its mark.

Jacob Argubright: Chasing Glory in Dakar 2025

One name to watch this year is Jacob Argubright, who is returning for his third Dakar Rally. Representing the RSmoto Honda Rally Team, Jacob will ride an upgraded Honda CRF450RX, determined to improve on his previous performances.

Jacob’s journey began at the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, where he secured a second-place finish in the Rally 2 class. He made his Dakar debut in 2023, finishing 22nd overall and earning the title of third-best rookie—though he admitted he was “a little disappointed” after experiencing fuel tank issues.

In 2024, Jacob made headlines again, winning the Glen Helen 10-Hour Endurance Race alongside teammates Nic Garvin and Colton Udall, proving he’s in top form for Dakar 2025.

The Dakar Classic: A Celebration of Heritage and Skill

This year’s Dakar Classic category brings vintage vehicles and experienced racers back into the spotlight. Among them are several Americans, determined to showcase their expertise and resilience:

Hans Brand – Navigator for crew #729 with the Dutch Quattro Legends.

Cameron Moore – Driving a Nissan Patrol GR #732 for Classic Technosport.

Bruno Delagneau – Assisting Christine Bernard of France in a Toyota HDJ 80 #736.

Taz Harvey & Mike Krynock – Behind the wheel of a Nissan Terrano #742 for Montana Racing Technosport.

The Classic category combines nostalgia and adventure, highlighting both the history and heart of rally racing.

Behind the Scenes: American Support Crews Keep the Wheels Turning

Dakar isn’t just about drivers and co-pilots—it’s also about the mechanics, engineers, and support teams working tirelessly behind the scenes. Many Americans play key roles in ensuring vehicles are ready for each grueling stage, often making the difference between victory and defeat.

Their expertise and dedication deserve recognition as they form the backbone of every successful team.

The American Spirit at Dakar: More Than a Race

For many participants, Dakar is not just a competition; it’s a lifestyle and a passion. American racers and crews embody this spirit, pushing their limits to conquer deserts, dunes, and rocks.

With Jacob Argubright’s quest for a Top 10 finish and the resilience of Classic category competitors, the U.S. presence at Dakar 2025promises to be unforgettable.
